Variér Furniture

HISTORY

In 1932 Georg Stokke started manufacturing furniture on the Norwegian west coast, near the famous Geiranger fjord. He was truly innovative, and was amongst the first to employ professional Scandinavian designers. Since then, products have come and gone, and much has happened.

However, the simple idea remains the same: If humans can move in a natural way, even when sitting, the body will feel better and possibly also last longer. This is why movement and variation remain the most important thing in everything we produce. When you buy a Varier product, you choose one of the healthiest chairs available. Or – as Varier likes to call it – intelligent sitting.

DESIGN

The designer Peter Opsvik, invented the Variér® Move™ after observing how workers made cobblestone streets. He saw that they were sitting on a one-footed stool.

Variér® Move™ is a supportive stool that encourages movement in a fun and unconventional way. When you’re half-standing, half-sitting the Variér® Move™ provides you with the same advantages as the cobblestone workers stool did.

The chair supports you and allows you the complete freedom to concentrate. It’s perfect for having a snack or a cup of coffee at the breakfast bar. It also works as a standing support for architects, designers, painters and other creative professionals.

There is no straining or stretching because the chair follows you around and provides a full 360 degrees of easy movement. Optimal at all kinds of activities that can be done in half standing, half sitting positions.

A rubber stopper under the seat makes it easy to hang on table/desk to clean the floor.

Three Models to Choose from: 

• Move™: The ingenious standing support. A multi purpose stool that lets the body move fully through 360°. Perfect as a standing support. Easy to use and light enough to move around with you. Has a comfortable saddle shaped seat, and adjustable gas-lift available in 3 heights, 49-68cm (low), 56-82cm (medium), or 65-87cm (tall).
  Seat width at widest point is 38cm and base diameter approx 43cm
• Move™ II: Has a smaller seat. Move™ II features a Move™ small seat with a normal Move™ plate and gas-lift. Available in the same heights as Move™: low, medium and high.
  Seat width at widest point is 32cm and base diameter approx 43cm
• Move™ Small: Ideal for children in a school situation or for use at home. Suitable for children 7+. Rubber sole is delivered as standard. Height range 49-66cm.
  Seat width at widest point is 32cm and base diameter approx 41cm
  Only available in black and natural wood finishes.

• Mystic Fabric - black only, 100% polyester, flame retardent, abrasion resistant (100,000 Martindale), pilling resistance of 5, rub resistant (dry) of 5, rub resistant (wet) of 4-5, color fastness of 5, spot clean only
• Fame Wool Fabric - numerous colours 95% wool, 5% polyamid, flame retardant, abrasion resistant (200,000 Martindale), light fastness 5-7, rub resistant 4-5 (dry) 3 (wet), pilling of 3-4. Dry clean or spot clean with mild detergent only
• Dinamica Classic Microfiber - numerous colour 88% polyester, 12% polyurethane, flame retardant, abrasion resistant (50,000 Martindale), light fastness 5, rub resistant 4-5 (dry or wet), pilling of 5. Spot clean with mild detergent only
• Elegance Semi-Analine Leather - numerous colours 100% semi-analine leather, flame retardant, tear strength 20N, thickness 1.3-1.5mm, light fastness 5, rub resistant 4 (dry or wet). Careful cleaning is required as semi-aline leather has open pores and a natural grain. It is not protected with dye or lacquer. Use a water based maintenance program.

Varier Materials:

They use wood from farmed sources harvested using principles of sustainability. All the beech and oak we use comes from Europe. The walnut comes from North America.

Varier Respect for the environment:

Using environmentally friendly materials and methods is a major priority for Variér®. They also attach importance to ensuring that the production methods are environmentally friendly.

Warranty:

7 years/5 years. Variér® offers an extended 7 years guarantee on all wooden parts and 5 years on mechanical parts. Variér’s guarantee only covers manufacturing defects and does not include misuse, normal wear and tear and defects caused by exposure to sunlight. The guarantee will not apply if the customer fails to tighten screws as recommended and this results in damage to the piece of furniture.
