Dr Jill's Gel Bunion Cushion Thick
Created and Designed by a Podiatrist !
Bunions are one of the most common of all foot problems, so these new bunion guards from Dr Jill's come as a great relief for all of us that suffer from this painful condition.
What are Bunions?
A bunion basically refers to a bony growth or bump on the outside of the big toe that develops as the bone under the toe shifts. This causes the big toe to move out of place and move towards the other toes. Bunions are a progressive problem, which may get worse over time. The pain can be mild discomfort to extremely severe pain, and related problems such as corns and calluses can develop. The medical term for a bunion is hallux abducto valgus (HAV).
What Causes Bunions?
There are many potential causes of bunions. Sometimes it is related to footwear (very often ladies in high heels), but very often it is the foot's motion or biomechanics that is the cause, such as over pronation (excessive rolling of the foot). Sometimes bunions are hereditary, and sometimes having one leg shorter than the other can lead to bunions developing.
Your doctor or podiatrist may recommend a number of options including orthotics, ice treatment, anti-inflammatory creams, changing your shoes, using bunion pads, to surgery in the worst cases.
These bunion cushions from Dr Jill's were designed by a podiatrist for her customers. Simple and easy to use, these gel pads when placed over the area of the bunion can help minimize pain, by creating a barrier between your shoe and the bunion.
