OCCUPATION: Physiotherapist, BSc (HONS) MCSP PG Dip Erg After graduating in 1996 as a physiotherapist in the UK, I soon became aware that regardless of however efficient our treatment methods were, there was all too often a number of 'links in the chain' missing when it came to occupational injury. While I felt confident that I was doing the right stuff in the clinic; carry-over into the workplace and home was sometimes poor. It was then that I came to the realization that work environments and the sociological context of patients in their work roles, were important factors to understand if I was to achieve improved outcomes for them. In 2004, after travelling and settling down somewhat, i embarked upon a period of extended study. The MSc program at the Roben's Institute of Health ergonomic in the UK, filled in many of the 'missing links' in my understanding of working systems and environments. Armed with new tools, I expanded my career avenues into the world of ergonomics and occupational medicine whilst maintaining my physiotherapy and sports injury roots. Marriage and emigration to Australia (and not to mention two little boys) soon followed. Since arriving in Australia I have continued to pursue both career interests, and increasingly find that both complement each other, making me better at each for the shared experiences gained from each field of study . It has always been important for me to provide a conscientiously high level of care for people who are often in pain. And it’s essential that ergonomic equipment and seating solutions arrive swiftly and are fitted correctly to every client I work with. In finding Bad Backs I have been lucky enough to find a company with the same ethos as that of my own. I always know that Bad Backs will deliver on first-class service, product range and fitting: leaving the customer happy and less follow-up work for me - Thanks Bad Backs !!
