Acupuncture

Acupuncture, a profession with over 5,000 years of history, which has recently become the most widely used alternative therapy among Western health care practitioners. It is often referred to as Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of very thin needles into specific points around the body to stimulate the flow of Qi, or natural healing energy, so restoring the balance of Yin and Yang. This practice is based on the meridian theory, which describes channels of energy throughout the body.

When these channels are blocked or disrupted, it can lead to illness and discomfort, so by inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncturists aim to unblock the energy flow and promote healing.

Acupuncture needles are sterile and used only once and the expected sensation is typically dull, tingly, or warm. This sensation is a sign that the treatment is working and that the body’s natural healing processes are being activated.

Acupuncture is used to treat a wide range of conditions, from chronic pain and migraines to stress and anxiety. Many people find it a highly effective and relaxing form of therapy, and it is often used in conjunction with other forms of treatment, such as herbal medicine and massage.
