Naturopathy

Naturopathic medicine, sometimes called “naturopathy,” is as old as healing itself and as new as the latest discoveries in biochemical sciences.

Although the term naturopathy was first used at the turn of the 20th century, the basic philosophy and many of the methods of naturopathic medicine are ancient, some dating back at least to 400 BC.

Naturopathy is a distinctively natural approach to health and healing that recognizes the integrity of the whole person – an art, science, philosophy and practice of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of illness. It’s the combination of nature’s healing power and scientific methods that makes it an important system of medicine for today’s health care.

The basic principles are:

  • Utilise the healing power of nature
  • First, do no harm
  • Find the cause
  • Treat the whole person
  • Preventative medicine
