The Martindale Rub Rating is an industry standard test used to measure how durable an upholstery fabric is. It simulates repeated abrasion by rubbing the fabric in a controlled pattern until visible wear appears. The final score — expressed as a number of “rubs” — indicates how well the fabric will stand up to everyday use.
