Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a gentle but powerful holistic Japanese form of bodywork designed to heal and promote health by influencing and improving the state of natural energy in the body. Literally translated it means ‘finger pressure’. Shiatsu is a combination of two ancient techniques, Japanese Massage (Anma) and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Shiatsu’s sensitive stretching and deep pressure is slowly applied to specific points along the body’s energy lines (meridians), inducing a state of relaxation wherein the body’s natural healing mechanisms operate more freely.
This has the effect of calming the central nervous system and relaxing the muscles. The treatments are deeply relaxing, restoring and energising. Some of the conditions that shiatsu can help include: back & neck pain, muscular tension, headaches, sports injuries, arthritic pain, digestive problems, insomnia and anxiety. It is also used as a preventative measure to strengthen the bones, and boost the immune system, nervous system and circulation.
