OCCUPATION: Police Officer
CONDITION: Severe Achilles Tendonitis
I developed quite severe tendonitis in both of my Achilles Tendons about a year and a half ago; after I took up long distance running. Initially the symptoms meant that I found it impossible to even wear shoes let alone run. I had my condition diagnosed, but the doctor just suggested strapping my ankles and complete rest. Being a highly active person this was extremely frustrating and I found I could never really get the pressure correct with the strapping, which would often rub and give me a rash on my ankles or come apart ( therefore being of no benefit at all). I then researched products on the internet and found Bad Backs.
I visited the store in South Melbourne and found the staff there were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.  I initially bought one Pro Tech Achilles support (for the ankle that was most affected) and found my tendonitis immediately relieved. I found the product easy to put on, with the correct amount of pressure applied on my tendon. I then purchased a second support, and was able to wear both and continue with my long distance training.
Since purchasing the supports I have run three marathons in the last year, and am currently training for my fourth in January 2012. I have worn my supports for each of the events and can honestly say that I wouldn’t have been able to complete them without them. I am confident that my tendons are protected when I am training and competing in these events, which in turn makes me perform better as I am less preoccupied with potential injuries.
I am hoping to complete many more marathons in the future- and break the 3 hour mark!
